Marching to the Beat
Clay Central High School has a flourishing band program. Our band is a close-knit family of students with one purpose: making great music. Under the leadership of our director, Stephen Arline, the band has two distinct seasons. First is marching season. During this time, the band compiles a marching routine with a theme that we perfect and take to various competitions throughout the state. This season begins with band camp in July and ends with the conclusion of the football season. Once marching season has come to a close, we pick up concert season. We usually have three concerts with three distinct sets of music. Our first concert is a Christmas concert held in December. Once we return from the holiday break, we begin the most hectic time of year, MPA preparation. MPA is the statewide concert band competition. We prepare for about two months for this. After MPA is done, we host a spring concert featuring fun and lively selections. We round out the year with one final appearance at the Spring game. We then wait anxiously for band camp to begin so that the band can resume making great music and great memories.
