Fishing Team Makes a Splash
Fishing Team Makes a Splash
Central High School welcomed a new athletics team to its roster this year. 2017 was the inception of the Central High School of Clay County Bass Fishing Team. Many students expressed interest in the new organization. During the summer they held a qualifying tournament for the interested students. The team presently consists of 12 students. Lester Roberson and Assistant Principal Rick Coleman sponsor them.
Team member James Carr stated, “I feel very comfortable and confident in our team. Our coaches have put in many hours to get this team started for us. We could never have gotten this opportunity if our coach Les Roberson and Assistant Principal Coleman had never got the idea going.”
You might ask, “Why a fishing team?” As Jameson explained, “Not everyone likes to throw a football or baseball. Several of us like to throw a Baitcaster.” The addition of this sport will open doors for a greater number of students. Many colleges now have fishing teams and offer scholarships for this sport. That is what many of these young men hope for.
The fishing team will have several tournaments throughout the year. Let’s support and cheer for the members of this new team, just as we do all our other VOLS.

Jungle Adventures Brings Out the Wild at CHS

Rick Rickshaw and his Jungle Adventure friends made a recent stop at Central High School.  Mr. Rickshaw always brings and informative and fun program to the students.  This year he had several new animals that entertained and educated the attendees.

Our first visitor was a spider monkey.

Gretchen, a ground boa, slowly slithered across the gym floor.

Mr. Rickshaw introduced a bearded lizard from Australia.

The African spurred tortoise was a little too slow to get across the floor, so Rick gave her a helping hand.

Angel, a capuchin monkey, was a crowd favorite.

Romeo, another capuchin monkey, was the youngest visitor. He needed his blanket for comfort.

SchoolBlocks offers a unique and powerful personalized search system. A member of the public, searching for "homework" might see an announcement from the school as the first result. However, if the user is logged in, they would see their teacher’s latest homework assignment as the top result.
