• ALET Debbie Rice Memorial Scholarship-Given to a high school senior with intention to enter the field of computer science.  Deadline November 2, 2019. Scholarship application can be downloaded here. 

• The Alabama Sports Festival Foundation offers high school students to be ambassadors for the program to promote their initiatives such as Don't Text and Drive, Smoke Free Alabama, and Buckle Up Alabama.  Ambassadors then have the opportunity to win academic scholarships.  Applicants should display strong academics, work ethic, leadership and communication skills.  Apply online at https://www.asffoundation.org/student-ambassadors.  The deadline is October 4, 2019.

• The SunTrust College Scholarship Sweepstakes offers seniors the chance to win a $500 scholarship.  One winner will be chosen every two weeks beginning in September.  Students can register after each completed drawing for the next scheduled drawing.  To enter, go to http://www.suntrusteducation.com/scholarship-sweepstakes/index.html.

• The Horatio Alger Association seeks to assist students who have demonstrated integrity, perseverance in overcoming adversity, strength of character, financial need, a good academic record, commitment to pursue a college education and a desire to contribute to society.  To be eligible you must: (1) be a senior, (2) intend to pursue a bachelor's degree, (3) critical financial need of $55,000 or less family income, (4) display integrity and perseverance in overcoming adversity, (5) involvement in co-curricular and community service activities, (6) minimum GPA of 2.0, and (7) a U. S. citizen.  To apply, the following items must be completed : (1) Online certification form completed by the school, (2) Online application at https://scholars.horatioalger.org, (3) Support & Verification Form, (4) transcript, (5) copy of parents' income tax form. The 4-year undergraduate application is available annually from August 1 and close October 25.  The Career & Technical application is available March 15. 

• The NCWIT Award for Aspirations in Computing acknowledges the computing achievements and aspirations of young women.  Winners receive $500, a laptop, a trip to the Bank of America Awards Ceremony in Charlotte, NC and an engraved award.  Applicants should have demonstrated outstanding aptitude and interest in IT/Computing and demonstrated leadership ability.  www.ncwit.org/award. The site also contains other scholarships available for computing and IT pursuits.

• The William Randolph Hearst Foundation sponsors the United States Senate Youth Program.  To enter, students must take a test and write an essay.  One nomination can be sent from Central High School.  Two state winners will receive a $5000 scholarship and represent Alabama during a week internship in Washington, D.C. • The Coca-Cola Scholars Program offers scholarships to students who plan to attend a 4-year college, a 2-year college, and to students who are first in their immediate family to attend college.  Amounts of these scholarships can be up to $20,000.  To be eligible, you must be a US citizen and have a minimum 3.0 GPA.  The online application is available until October 31, 2019, at http://www.coca-colascholarsfoundation.org.

• The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation College Scholarship Program is an undergraduate scholarship program available to high-achieving seniors with financial need who plan to attend a four-year university.  Forty students will receive $40,000 per year to attend a four-year undergraduate school.  To be eligible: •Graduate from a U.S. high school in spring 2020•Intend to enroll full time in an accredited four-year college beginning in fall 2020•Earn a cumulative unweighted GPA of 3.5 or above•Receive standardized test scores of either an SAT Total Score of 1200 and above OR an ACT Composite Score of 26 or above•Demonstrate unmet financial need. We will consider applicants with family income up to $95,000.   Apply at www.jkcf.org.  Applications are accepted September to November 13, 2019.

• The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards recognizes high school youth solely on the basis of volunteer work in the community.  There is one local honoree, one state level honoree who receives $1000 and five national honorees who win $5000.  Interested students who feel they have made a positive difference through a volunteer activity during the past year should apply at http://spirit.prudential.com.  The application is available from September through the middle of November each year.

• The John F. Kennedy Library Foundation invites high school students to write an essay on an act of political courage by a U.S. elected official who served during or after 1956.  For contest information, registration and to submit your essay, visit the Profile in Courage Essay contest at jfklibrary.org. First place winner receives $10,000.  Second place winner receives $1,000.  Five finalists receive $500.  Submission deadline is January 17, 2020.

• The Jackie Robinson Foundation offers scholarships for minority students who are graduating high school.  Applicants must plan to attend a four-year institution, show leadership potential, demonstrate dedication to community service, present evidence of financial need and have a minimum ACT score of 21.  The application includes four essay questions and is due usually at the beginning of February.  Apply at their website.

• The Smith Foundation Scholarships are designed to help young Alabamians obtain a higher education and fulfill their personal goals to become leaders and give back to their communities.   Qualifications include: (1) Must be a graduating Alabama high school senior. (2) Have a minimum of a C+ grade point average, (3) planning to attend an approved 4-year public college in Alabama, (4) significant contribution to family or community.  There is no ACT minimum, but the applicant must have taken the ACT.  Scholarships are awarded to students who have struggled against the odds whether financial, home life or disabilities and have proven they are willing to help those around them. There are two deadlines for different parts of the scholarship application. Check the website for deadlines. Apply online at www.smithscholarships.com.

• Wendy's High School Heisman recognizes outstanding male and female high school students who excel in academics, athletics and leadership.  Out of all applicants, one male and one female student from Central High School will be chosen to enter the national contest.  There will be a school winner, region winner, state winner, and national winner.  Eligible applicants should have a B average and participate in at least one school-sponsored sport.  Apply at www.WendysHeisman.com.

• Hagan Scholarship Foundation- https://haganscholarship.org. Deadline for application is November 15, 2019.  The applicant must be a 2020 graduating senior, have a GPA of 3.75 or higher, scored and ACT composite of 24 or higher or 1,150 on the SAT.  They must enroll at an eligible four-year college the first semester following high school graduation and must work 240 hours in the twelve months prior to beginning college (August 2019-August 2020).  Their EFC on the FAFSA must not exceed $6500.

• Mensa will offer a variety of scholarships to students who will attend post secondary school.  Students need not be a member of Mensa; awards are based on a student essay.  Early submissions are encouraged.  Go to their website to determine which of their scholarship opportunities are available to you. http://www.mensafoundation.org/what-we-do/scholarships/us-scholarship-process/us-scholarship-application/.

• The Sallie Mae Fund, a charitable organization, achieves its mission to expand pathways for the successful development of America’s youth by supporting programs and initiatives that help open doors to higher education and to support initiatives focused on the communities it serves. They offer several scholarships and materials to help you prepare for college. They also award a $1000 scholarship monthly.  http://www.thesalliemaefund.org/
  

•  The Christian Connector provides a free Christian college information service as well as a $2,500 Christian college scholarship drawing.  Students can log onto www.ChristianConnector.com to request information and automatically be entered in the drawing.

• Tallapoosa River Electric Cooperative offers scholarships to dependents of their members.  Scholarships range from $500-$2500.  An application must be submitted with a resume and three letters of recommendation. See your counselor for more information. 

• American Welding Society Scholarships-

  Since 1991, the AWS Foundation has helped students from around the world to realize their dreams and make them a reality. AWS Foundation scholarships help students with their financial obligations; they help to cover a variety of school expenses such as tuition and fees, books and other supplies.  If you are currently enrolled in a welding program or a related field, then consider applying for the scholarships. More information can be found at their website.

• Clothing retailer Kohl's offers scholarships through their Kohl's Cares program.  These scholarships are award to students making a difference in their community.  Students must be nominated for the award.  Visit their website or a local store for more information and to receive a notification of when the nomination period opens. 

•  The Kids' Chance Scholarship Fund http://www.alabamalawfoundation.org/what-we-do/kids-chance/kids-chance-apply/. Kids’ Chance scholarships fund college tuition or technical training to young people whose parent or parents have been permanently disabled or killed on the job apply online. Applications are due by May 1 each year and awards are made in June or July.

• Berea College offers 4-year, tuition scholarships to qualified students who want to earn a college degree and who are willing to participate in their work program to earn money to help with other costs associated with college - like books, room, and board. For more information, go to www.berea.edu/admissions. Students nominated typically rank in the top 20% of their class and score above average on ACT and SAT I tests. Students must demonstrate financial need. 

• Ayn Rand Essay Contest– Ayn Rand’s novels are inspiring and intellectually challenging. But they can also be financially rewarding for high school and college students. The Ayn Rand Institute sponsors annual essay contests that offer 600 prizes and over $100,000 in prize money every year. For details, choose from the subjects shown at www.aynrand.org/contests. Read Fountainhead, We The Living, and/or Atlas Shrugged and write an essay based on the topics provided.

•  Alabama Home Builders Foundation awards scholarships to seniors who want to pursue careers in the core trades of the home building industry.  Examples of these trades are: carpentry & cabinetry, masonry, HVAC, plumbing, drafting, electrical engineering and electrical work. An electronic application can be submitted at www.ahbfoundation.org. A transcript, letter of recommendation, and proof of residency must be included.  See the counselors for more information.  Deadline March 15, 2020.

• Coosa Pines Federal Credit Union offers sixteen $1000 scholarships to seniors who exemplify values of personal and civic responsibility through their grades, extracurricular activities, essay responses, letter(s) of recommendation, and community service. Scholarships are available to seniors who are credit union members. See counselors for an application.

• Alabama Farmers Federation members can now apply online for one of 100 $1000 college scholarships. To be eligible, the applicant must be a member of the Alabama Farmers Federation and a the membership must be issued in the name of the scholarship applicant.  Apply online at https://www.alfainsurance.com.

• Coosa Valley Electric Cooperative will accept applications for its scholarship.  Only one applicant may be submitted per school.  Student applications must demonstrate school/community service, have a B average and financial need.  The application must be accompanied by 3 letters of recommendation, a transcript of the student's grades, and copies of previous years W-2 forms.  The applicant must live on the CVEC system or be a member of a CVEC employee's immediate family.  Recipients will receive a scholarship of $1,000.00 per year for four years.  See the counselors for an application.
  

• The Sons of Confederate Veterans is sponsoring the Wayne J. Creed Memorial Scholarship for three graduating seniors in Clay County, with three $500.00 scholarships available.  To be eligible, the applicant must be a direct lineal descendant of a Confederate Veteran, maintain a B average during their senior year, be of sound moral reputation proven by a letter of recommendation, and provide a transcript.  Applications for this scholarship will be available in the spring.

• The Clay County Cattlemen's Association is sponsoring four $500.00 scholarships for graduating seniors in Clay County. To be eligible, a parent or grandparent must be a member of the Clay County Cattlemen's Association and in good standing for the past two years and must be willing to attend their Awards Dinner.  Applicants are required to have a B average. You must submit an essay of 1500-2000 words describing an issued confronting the beef industry and offering your solution. You must also submit a letter of recommendation. • The National Wild Turkey Federation offers a scholarship to a high school senior in Clay County. Requirements include completing an application, writing a brief essay describing your commitment to conservation and preserving hunting heritage or why you would be a good investment if you are awarded this scholarship, and three letters of recommendation.  A transcript must also accompany the application.  The essay should be typed, double-spaced and should not exceed three pages.  A photograph, hunting license, and copy of NWTF membership card must also be included.  Go to nwtf.org to fill out the application and print. January 1, 2020.

• Callie's Kids Children's Foundation offers the Tommy Moorehead Memorial Scholarship is a $1,000 scholarship to one senior who is a resident of Clay or Talladega County.  To qualify, the applicant must have a 3.0 GPA.  Priority will be given (but not limited) to students pursuing a college degree in law, medicine, education or fine arts. • The Linly Heflin Scholarship Committee grants four-year scholarships in the amount of $4,000 per year to a limited number of Alabama women who have significant economic need and sound academic records.  Scholarships are limited to four-year Alabama colleges, must hav ea minimum ACT score of 23, Alabama resident and US citizen, financial need, and academic proficiency.  The completed application form and supporting documents, including transcripts are due in January. www.linlyheflin.org.

•  Alabama College Counts Scholarship provides funding assistance to Alabama high school students with demonstrated financial need so they can attend college.  To be eligible, students must be an Alabama resident, plan to enroll ina college or university in Alabama, demonstrate financial need, have a minimum GPA of 2.75 and have an ACT score of 26 or below.  Awards are $4,000 for students enrolled in a four-year college and $2,000 for those enrolled in a two-year college. Apply online at http://treasury.alabama.gov/collegecounts-scholarship/.

• The Public Housing Authority Directors Association has implemented a scholarship program for graduating seniors who are preparing to enter college.  They will award 3 scholarships to deserving youth currently residing in public housing.  Students must have a B average.  The application is available at www.phada.org.  A verification page completed by the counselor, transcript, two letters of recommendation, and an essay must be included with the scholarship application.  See the counselor for more information.

• The Alabama Association of School Office Personnel awards four $1,000 scholarships to students pursuing a degree from the college of business of K-12 education. See the counselor for an application.

• The Will & Ann Scholarship Award is open for students who have been accepted into an accredited college or university.  The award value varies each year based on fund availability.  To be eligible, applicants must submit three letters of recommendation (one from a minister or community leader, one from a teacher, and one from an adult family member) and write an essay.  See the counselor for an application. 

• The Talladega-Tuskegee Alumni Assocation offers scholarships for students from Talladega, Coosa & Clay counties who plan to attend Tuskegee University.  See the counselor for an application.

• The Alabama School Transportation Assocation offers 2 scholarships for students whose parent or guardian is a school transportation employee.  Applicants must have a 3.0 GPA.  See the counselors for an application.  

• The Southeastern State Pupil Transporation Conference offers a $2500 scholarship for a student whose parent or guardian is a school transportation employee.  Applicants must have a 3.0 GPA.  See the counselor for an application.

• The Orlando Scholarship Organization awards one boy and one girl a "Community and Arts" $2500 scholarship.  See the counselor for an application.
